The tenth generation ProLiant DL160 rack server from HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) delivers significant performance improvements over the previous generation. Support for the new Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs (central processing units) in two processor sockets enables a higher number of cores, while the enhanced processing technology of this CPU generation offers improved energy efficiency as well as more computing power. The processors have access to a large amount of memory, which contributes significantly to the performance of the server thanks to the fast DDR4 RAM (Random Access Memory) standard and ECC (Error Correcting Code).

Scalability is one of the traditional strengths of the ProLiant DL160 series, both in terms of performance and storage capacity. The 1U server can be equipped with SFF (Small Form Factor) or LFF (Large Form Factor) hard disks, depending on the chassis version, to adapt the server infrastructure to growing requirements. Depending on the controller installed, drives with SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment), SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) or NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) transfer protocols can be used. The DL160 Gen10 servers also feature PCI Express slots and a flexible LOM slot with PCIe 3.0 standard for adding graphic cards, additional controllers or network cards.
